Description
International Aerospace Manufacturing Private Limited (IAMPL) was incorporated on 16th July 2010 in India.
It is a joint venture company between Rolls Royce Overseas Holdings and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. Each company own a 50% share of IAMPL.
A purpose built manufacturing facility, in excess of 6,000 sq. m will be constructed on a site off Wind Tunnel Road, Bangalore, India.This is due to be finished by mid 2012.
IAMPL, once operational, will machine ring forgings into shrouds (seals) and cones to be used within Rolls Royce Civil Gas Turbines, more commonly known as jet engines.
The facility will manufacture in excess of 130 different parts which will be used across the existing range of Rolls Royce Civil Engines. This includes the Trent Family (500, 700, 800, 900, 1000 and XWB), RB211 and V2500. Each shroud and cone is unique to an engine, to enable the maximum efficiency to be achieved. All parts are machined to within a few microns accuracy. As new engines continued to be created by Rolls Royce, IAMPL will become responsible for supplying these newly designed shrouds and cones. International Aerospace Manufacturing Private Limited will use existing methods of manufacture deployed by Rolls Royce within one of its existing factories. As IAMPL grows capability and capacity the whole of Rolls Royce's manufacturing requirements for shrouds and cones will be transferred to India. IAMPL will then become the Global Centre of Excellence for manufacture and supply of shrouds and cones to Rolls Royce. When the Manufacturing facility becomes fully operational it is anticipated that in excess of 100 people will be employed.
